Today, I am pleased to announce a new app: CountPlus! This app is currently under development. It will be a counter app with no limit to the number of counters and a widget for quick use. It will be lightweight (no more than 500 kB).

For myself, I will be using it to make/break habits. If you have another idea for it, let me know.

The best part? It will be free! On top of that, there will be no ads. I plan to release it in about two to three weeks. I don’t know a date yet, but since I am planning to return to my LDS mission on May 30, I hope to at least have it done before then.

That said, I will not release it if I cannot make it good quality. That is ZonedCode Media’s top priority: quality code, quality apps, quality experience.

Also, I have on the drawing board a plan for a calculator app with all of the features of expensive, 100+ dollar calculators. If you think that is a good idea, contact me. This calculator app will only get made if there is popular support.

Recently, I have been working a lot in Blender, an “open source” 3D animation program.

For those of you who don’t know what “Open Source” means, I have made a new page where I explain what it means, and what it means for you.

I also list what open source software programs I use in ZonedCode Media and in other, personal projects.  If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on expensive programs, do what I do: use open source.

Starting a Blog

Well, if you all didn’t know, I am using a system to make my website easy to maintain. It’s called WordPress. It is meant for sites that use a blog as their main page. I thought about the page that I had in place for my homepage, and I decided that it might be useful. One thing that I believe in is openness. That is why I support Open Source software. If I could afford it, I would donate to some of the projects.

One thing about a blog is that it encourages openness, so that is one reason why I am doing it. The other reason is that I have a hard time keeping a journal.

So there you go. I hope that it proves to be useful, both to you and to me. I guess we’ll see.
